In all decision processes, remember to consider the nature of the area(s) for which decisions are being made . Do not make a decision that works in highly urbanized areas and penalizes rural areas.
While accelerating the electrification of existing government fleets and new automobiles is an important step, it should be complemented with a major focus on mode shift from single-occupancy vehicles to transit and alternate modes of transportation. Increased federal support for reliable, frequent transit service and capital expansion, congestion pricing programs, as well as intercity bus/rail, are important, but will also benefit from strong incentives for localities to better calibrate land use to allow more (affordable) housing near transit.
